Drifting

Mixed media on canvas framed in Tasmanian oak
61cm x 61cm

Marine Biologist, Wallace J. Nichols states “Being near water allows us to access a semi-meditative state known as 'drifting'. Drifting is a special form of attention where we are engaged with the world around us but not focussed on getting something done”. This artwork captures the meditative feeling of drifting while the grounding of the collage gives us a sense of place and belonging.

Ahoy

Mixed media on canvas framed in Tasmanian oak
61cm x 61cm
$1795

This work reflects on the quiet significance of Palm Beach Wharf as a place of connection — a place of both setting out and coming home across Pittwater’s waterways and beaches. It’s tied to the everyday rhythms of local life and the simple joys of leisure, escape, and return.

I’ve used historical images of the Pittwater area as the foundation for the collage, creating a textured surface anchored in a strong sense of place. Transparent acrylic glazes layer over this base to evoke the passing of time and the way places hold memory beneath their surfaces.
